What Death Can Touch

Sixteen-year-old Dulcie Stone glimpses people’s deaths at first touch, and warning them has sent them straight to their fate. When she foresees her anxious classmate Anselm’s imminent drowning, she can’t let herself care, and she’s for sure not telling him the truth. But between his annoying questions about his death and Dulcie’s attempts to imagine him at peace, she stops hating his company. Which is a bad thing, since Dulcie sees his death every time they touch, which has never happened before.

Desperate to save the first friend she’s made in years, Dulcie tests the visions to see if anything can be changed, while tracking down a man who shares her curse but claims to save people. But the more she learns, the sketchier this man seems, and the closer Anselm’s death grows. Now Dulcie must decide whether to risk their growing relationship to finally tell Anselm the truth so he can process the inevitable, or leave Anselm to discover his grim fate as he drowns. Either way, he’ll be dead by summer.
